Dating back to 1450, Dysart Harbour has a rich history. Trade with the Dutch and Belgians and growing exports of coal and salt to the baltic region saw the port grow in popularity during the 1700s. Although hurt by a declining coal industry, it is currently a busy, vibrant harbour.
